Good Gin

We made this gin (40%) by first crude distilling a base alcohol from a fermented mixture of bran and sugar. Then the magic happens in the fine distillation. In the still, you hang a basket filled to the brim with herbs so that every alcohol molecule that evaporates rises through this basket and binds the scent and flavors of the herbs. Steven and Martin made this first gin based on a herb mixture of juniper, coriander seed, dried orange peel, and angelica root. And the result is astounding, what a delicious gin! It's actually a shame to use it for a gin and tonic, but even in combination with tonic, the herbaceous aroma remains clearly recognizable.
